Overview

Reloop is a startup based in Europe, offering a SaaS mobile app designed to help users create and manage their daily tasks and routines. As the lead UX/UI designer, My objective was to develop the app from concept to Minimum Viable Product (MVP), incorporating UX research to ensure a seamless user experience aligned with with our business goals.

Highlights

01. Animation — Onboarding

02. Information Architecture — Create Task

Upon receiving this project, I questioned the need for yet “another task management app”. To address this, I conducted a competitive analysis to uncover what makes our app unique. It soon became clear that our app isn't just about managing tasks; it's also a tool for tracking routines. This feature not only helps users organize their daily activities but also allows them to monitor task frequency, providing insights into their behavior.

After understanding the core value of the product, I proceeded to confirm the goals of the product, the users, and the company. Then, I integrated these goals into my design.

Goal

Design a task management app that:

  • Helps users organize, prioritize, and complete tasks efficiently.

  • Allows users to monitor task frequency to understand their behavioral patterns.

  • Utilizes personas and storyboards to understand essential features for users and follows user-centered design principles.

Problem and Design Solution Highlights

01

What does User need?

User needs an efficient way to manage multiple tasks within a task management app.

What’s the Problem?

The challenge is that in a typical task management app, users have a list of multiple tasks, and navigating through these tasks and accessing specific features for each one can be challenging and time-consuming.

To address this problem, I implemented an interactive design solution, which includes the following features:

  • Swipe Right to Pin: Users can swipe a task to the right to pin it to the top of the task list. It allows quick access to high-priority or frequently used tasks.

  • Swipe Left to Complete: Swiping a task to the left marks it as completed. This gesture-based interaction streamlines the task completion process.

  • Tap to Edit: Tapping on a task allows users to easily edit and modify its details. This feature simplifies the task editing process and ensures that users can customize task information as needed.

02

What does user need?

Our user needs a clear and concise way to display two different times for each task: the average task completion time and the last completed task time, to track their routines.

What’s the Problem?

I need to design a task banner that can present these two times within a limited space. This can potentially cause user confusion as there is no clear visual distinction between the two times.

To solve this problem and enhance the user experience, I implemented the following design:

  • Differentiated Colors: Two different colors were used to visually separate the average task completion time from the last completed task time, making it easier for users to distinguish between them.

  • Separate the Spaces between two timers: Two timers were placed in distinct sections of the banner, ensuring that each time is clearly defined and not mixed.

  • Add an icon to one of the timers for enhanced clarity: An icon was added next to the average task completion time, providing an additional visual cue to help users quickly identify and differentiate between the two timers.

03

What does User need?

Users require the flexibility to choose between light and dark modes within the application to cater to their individual preferences and the time of use.

What’s the Problem?

The issue is that the absence of both light and dark modes can result in an inadequate user experience, as users have varying preferences and use the application at different times of the day.

To address this problem and meet the user's needs, the design includes both light and dark modes.

Project Takeaways

  • This project has helped me recognize the importance of teamwork. I had the pleasure of working on this project with Alex (PM) and Justblender (Developer). We are a small but productive team, and I would like to express my gratitude to them for their inspiration and support throughout this project.

  • I've improved my ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and address complex design problems clearly and understandably.

  • I've learned how to solve multiple complex design problems and understand that design isn't solely about aesthetics but also about how it works for users and the company.

  • In the next step, I'll continue to gather input from our users and incorporate their insights into our design.
